Disinfection of both external water sources and recirculating water flows is extremely important to any facilities success. The potential to unknowingly contract an invasive pathogen presents an enormous biosecurity risk to any facility holding live animals at high densities in close proximity. Most external water sources must be treated for pathogens before entering a facility. Furthermore recirculating systems provide an ideal environment for pathogens to proliferate. Oceans Design provides solutions to treat both moderate and and large quantities of water for disinfecting purposes using Ultra Violet sterilizers, ozone contact systems, or a combination of both.

  • UV Sterilization- Oceans Design offers both horizontal and vertically configured UV sterilizers which can be panel or floor mounted. UV Sterilizer housings are available in PVC (sch 40 or 80), ABS, and in titanium (floor mounted only). All UV sterilizers are available with hour meters, temperature overload shutoff , lamp status indicators, UV intensity sensors, and alarm relays, many controlled by an integrated PLC controller.   • Ozone Sterilization Systems- The use of ozone in aquaculture is varied ranging from a very effective bactericide and viricide to improving water quality by oxidizing non-biodegradable organic molecules, and improving foam fractionation by microflocculating fine particulate matter. Oceans Design works with its clients to design systems specific to their needs whether the goal is crystal clear water or targeting an invasive hard to kill micro organism.

  • Chlorine Dosing Systems-Chlorine is one of the most widely used and cost effective disinfectants for water. Chlorine not only is effective against a wide spectrum of pathogenic organisms but also effective in oxidizing organic and inorganic compounds. But chlorine is toxic to aquatic organism and in most cases chlorinated waste water cannot be discharged without first being properly dechlorinated. When used as the primary disinfection method in environments that contain aquatic life such as hatcheries or research laboratories, chlorine requires a properly designed distribution, detection, and dechlorination system.
